Despite moderate inflation, prices in Germany remain high. Many people suffer from high rents, energy costs, and other living expenses – especially in cities. Taxes and social security contributions are rising, placing increasing strain on the middle class. Things like restaurant visits, short trips, or concerts are no longer affordable for many. Fears of social decline are growing.

On behalf of the infamous Spiegel Verlag, we designed the cover of issue No. 24/2025, which was printed as a split-cover version, as well as the shiny visual implementation of the cover story on this topic.
